Chiang Mai Airport is located very close to the city center (usually a 15–20 minute drive), but we still recommend arriving 2 hours before your flight. If you have last-minute space in your luggage, the airport and local boutiques are excellent places to pick up Northern Thai specialties: look for high-quality Thai silk, locally grown coffee and tea, or the famous wooden carvings from nearby Baan Tawai.
