Leave the city behind as you head south on a 2-hour scenic drive to Leshan. After a local lunch in Leshan, you will board a sightseeing boat to appreciate the Buddha's full majesty from the water. From this unique vantage point at the confluence of the Minjiang, Dadu, and Qingyi rivers, you can capture the perfect panoramic photo of the statue's "mountain-sized" scale.
In the late afternoon, continue your journey to the base of Mount Emei. You will visit Baoguo Temple, the mountain's largest and most significant monastery. Today is dedicated to exploring the spiritual heights of Mount Emei, one of the Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains of China. To catch the best views, you will start early and take a sightseeing shuttle bus to Leidongping, followed by a brisk hike through the misty woods to Jieyin Palace. From there, a scenic cable car ride will whisk you up to the Golden Summit (Jinhu).
Standing at 3,077 meters above sea level, you will be standing amidst the clouds. Marvel at the awe-inspiring 48-meter-tall multi-faced golden statue of Samantabhadra and explore the magnificent Bronze and Silver Palaces. If the weather is clear, you will be rewarded with a spectacular "Sea of Clouds" and views that stretch across the distant snow-capped mountains. In the afternoon, descend the mountain and enjoy a relaxing drive back to Chengdu.
